Machine diagnostics – measurement and inspection of rotating machines

Inspection and knowledge of the condition of machines is the best protection against expensive surprises. Sudden losses of production are avoided. The costs for repairs and standstills can be reduced. Machine running times can be extended and the residual useful life can be better estimated.

Berliner Wasserbetriebe are offering not only the intelligent measuring system for rotating machines, but also the know-how and experience in evaluation and commenting on the measurement results as practice-related machine diagnostics. Only the combination of "condition monitoring", which has been proven and tested in the sector, and which is based on vibration measurements, together with a competence evaluation of the measurement data, allows reliable conclusions to be drawn as to the mechanical condition of the machine. This makes condition-related maintenance possible, and allows a corresponding maintenance strategy to be developed.


We offer two possibilities for machine diagnostics:

1. Offline monitoring with VIBSCANNER®
Regular route-guided measurements using portable measuring equipment. The data recorded by VIBSCANNER® reflects a momentary recording of the machine condition.

The following machine state parameters are measured: 

•   Machine vibrations in accordance with ISO 10816-3
•   Vibration velocity, vibration acceleration and vibration travel
•   Shock pulse measurement
•   FFT (Fast Fourier Transformation) spectra
•   Signal analysis
  
  

The measurement data is evaluated using OMNITREND software.

2. Online monitoring with VIBNODE®
With this permanently installed system, the sensors of all – in particularly operationally critical – machine parts can be constantly monitored. The machine conditions are measured and visualised fully automatically under different operating conditions. Alarm messages provide a warning signal when limit values are exceeded. No staff are required on site for the measurements.

In addition we offer the possibility of in-depth diagnostics. We monitor the trend curve and derive forecasts from it for the state development.  We will inform you when limit values are exceeded. Thanks to the parameter monitoring we are able to make statements about the causes of deterioration in the machine condition. A status-oriented and cost-optimising maintenance plan is drawn up.

The aim here is to obtain technical parameters in order to achieve cost-effective machine operation.


The machine diagnostics is suitable for:
Pumps, compressors, centrifuges, fans, electric motors in supply and disposal installations, in industrial production plants, in district heat stations, industrial estates and department stores.
