Wastewater treatment in Berlin

Used water is wastewater. This water can be dirty water from households, commerce and industry, or precipitation water, i.e. rain water with dirt from roofs, courtyards, streets and squares. It flows through underground drains in the roads to pumping stations, which pump it to the wastewater treatment plants. There, the wastewater is cleaned in accordance with the latest standards. The plants are equipped with the newest processing technology for biological nutrient removal.
